Analog ribbon synthesizer. Uses the circuit from a Korg Monotron and a customized 18" ribbon with reversible direction. Only 3/4" deep. Runs on rechargeable batteries. Built from MDF and acrylic.

  • would you make one of these to order and if so, how much? Also, what is the monotron plugged into - or is it a dc output? Cheers :)

  • @chrisjhart221138

There's no DC transformer; everything in the circuit runs from two AAA rechargeable batteries, accessed by removing a plate from the back of the unit.

I plan on making a second one, but would prefer to sell locally in the LA area. I could be convinced otherwise, though. The price would be around $300 plus shipping.

  • @stexe well, I'll definitely think about that... or plans perhaps for dollars? :)

  • @chrisjhart221138

I wouldn't take payment for a schematic; I believe in open-sourcing ideas. But there are hardly any plans. The monotron already has a ribbon, so I removed it and replaced it with a big one, soldering at the same connection points. But I'll log the process, put it on my website and provide the link in the video description above.

  • @stexe that would be great! Can I just ask - where is the cable running to?
