Tuners on MY squier are crap!
I own two Squier basses and both have the same tuning problem. Every single day out of tune.
But not flaten, sharpen!!!

Then I noticed that the metal rounds on the front side of tuning machines were popped out a little because of the string force. And they were moving in-out. But frequency only noticable on electronic tuner.
The solution was made in minute - with no cost at all!
Just 5 min relaxing work with wood.

- I drill 4 holes very close to metal rounds and tighten 4 screws. Head of the screw holds the metal round in place.
(You can put GOLD screws and called it upgraded, ha ha)

Otherwise the Squier basses are decent guitars - nice finish mostly!

  • why dont you just replace the tuners?

  • I already replaced - the guitar.

  • I have a Squire Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz And it stays in perfect Tune for a week or more. I don't know why you have a problem. (I tune electronically BTW so it's not my ear)

  • You lucky owner! About problem please read my text. And yes, I also tune with tuner.

  • The screws look stupid, lock them with "LOCK TITE" or just buy new ones. This looks bad.....

  • I have the exact same bass guitar :D the colours also

  • What kind of mess is that?!!!!!!!

  • Solution = Dont buy shit quality basses.

  • thanx 4 the tip

  • oddly the same thing was happening with my fender p bass deluxe (MIM). I returned it after a couple weeks. $650+ is far too much to pay for an instrument with issues, in my book anyway. But mine did have more issues than that.

  • i have a squier jazz bass iv with the actives in it. Although i didnt have this problem, the other day i opened up my gig bag and seen that one of the keys snapped right off the post. They where welded on there really crappy. now i gotta find a new set of tuners

  • omg i have the same problem.its weird.
