This is a tribute for the evil Time Lady, The Rani, played by Kate O'Mara. Too bad the promising start in "Mark of the Rani" was ruined by the terrible "Time and the Rani"

Apparently it's just a coincidence and they didn't intend there to be any kind of reference. "Rani" is the hindu translation of the name "Sarah", and I think that's why it was chosen...

@thesacredyew See I thought that too pretty much from the jump but then we found out the truth. Hopefully they will bring her back at some point. I would love Kat O'Mara, if even just at the start, but if that feel they must recast then totally Claudia Black.

'The Mark of the Rani' was IMO such an excellent story. And it was glorious seeing her completely take the mickey out of the Master. It's a pity everything she was in after that was poorly done. Very interesting villain, amoral rather than immoral

I don't think the rani is al evil think she just wants to get on with hear work in piece but the doctor comes a long a buggers it up for hear twice.
