This is the CD version from the 1984 episode Wayfarer's All. Voice of the seafaring rat: Jack May.
I hope you enjoy this, the song is haunting, even in this version.

"When the sea voice calls I must obey... And the rolling tide draws me away... White horses, setting courses, to a distant shore, so, come follow me, Wayfarers All. Sea-rover I shall always be... Ten thousand stars for company... Through the islands, low-and-high lands, Way to o'er Bengal, Come follow me, Wayfarers All. And now I yearn to travel on... You'll surely follow where I've gone... Your longing is strong enough, Now heed the call! Come follow me, Wayfarers All..."

  • Where did you purchase this CD?

  • @Caledonian812

    On Amazon UK.

  • I love it! Got any other songs on the CD?

  • @georgemiser

Oh yes, there are a lot of songs and also background music without vocals! It´s a wonderful compilation. But I´m afraid of copyright problems if I upload all of them...

There are the Schussboomer song, the Fancy Dress song, You´ve got to have a little bit of Style, Boating, Mr Toad´s song, When the Toad came home and many others. All in all about 20 pieces with and without vocals.

  • @xpallodoc Perhaps thats what makes the series so good- it appeals to all ages.

  • @awaitthegroom This episode is very adult. Loved it though. I feel like I face the same dilema some times. Stay with my friends or family or go out and see the world and never look back.

  • @JojoMonReturns91 I was surprised to hear Jack May in a WITW episode! I guess they diceded to bring him back after this to voice Igor a few years later. Makes sense!

  • This episode plus the piper at the gates of dawn and unlikely allies and mole getting poisoned are so eerie and hardly for children- these stay with you in an odd way

  • Please Post the other songs... I love Wind in the Willows.

  • amazing piece of music i kind of feel sorry for ratty but in another way its a good thing his close friends followed him and stopped him!

  • Fantastic song! I remember this when I was a kid. Go on post the others.

  • @Hanakomiko Think you got a few words wrong. I'm picking up:

    Searover I shall always be

    Ten thousand stars for company

    ...? low and high land

    ...? to old Bengal

    Come follow me, wayfarers all.

Of course, I can't make out the rest either, so you're not alone.

  • @Punki80 Thanks, you have my deepest gratitude
