This is one of the greatest shows ever! Right from the start this show is special. The band is on and Robert's voice is perfect, controlled and his entire range is used, resulting in one of his finest recorded vocal performances! "Good evening. Everybody feel alright? Tonight we intend to get everybody looser than anybody's even been loose ... even with cod liver oil!" tells Plant at the beginning of the show. Heartbreaker features some wonderful playing form Jimmy in his solo in the middle but Plant calmed down the audience after the song: "The people who are standing in the aisleys, can they sit on the floor or whatever. There's some people behind can't see. So if anybody knows they are obstructing somebody else's view, can they respect that fact or move, then everybody can see!" Since I've Been Loving you was dedicated to "...the litttle men with the suits on who keep pushing everybody back down the aisle. It's their big day, y'see. They can't understand it." Plant also humorously intrioduced the band at the beginning of How Many More Times as "the four survivors of the Graf Zeppelin", John Bonham as "for the benefit if Mr Kite! and Pagey as "the man who made rock, rock". After a wild version of that song, the Whole Lotta Love encore features a duel between Jimmy on the Theremin and Jonesy on a heavily distorted organ....simply wild! An announcer informed the crowd about the forthcoming event - Jimi Hendrix on April 25th, 1970.

Recently returned from Nam, all my friends were talking about the hot new group Led Zeppelin. All it took was hearing the way they layed down the classic blues songs like "Since I've Been Loving You" to make me a life long fan.
The concert at the Forum in LA on March 27, !970 was the only opportunity I've had to see them live, but I've always said with pride that I was there and that it was the first official date with my wife of 32 years. I put this concert right up there with my attendance at the farewell performance of Cream tour and the 1967 tour of Pink Floyd.
If there is any hope in the world of getting tickets to the possible tour later this year or so, I'll for sure be trying my best. Congrats on the reunion on 12-10-08! Your in the love of great music, John Kayser

Zeppelin created more frenzy at the Forum than any group Ive seen since the Stones appearance last year. At the end of the evening, hundreds had pushed their way into the aisles near the stage and thousands of others were standing in rhythm to the music.

The concert, which had been sold out for weeks, showed that Led Zeppelin is largely trying to recreate the sounds that have dominated English blues-rock in recent years.

Appearing without any support act, the group was onstage from 8:45 to 11:15pm. Like the Stones, they have a gyrating lead singer in Robert Plant and their best received songs have bawdy, under-the-counter lyrics. (LA Times, March 1970)
