@ThisWeekInFascism But was it from a movie, tv program, or is that clip just a stand alone thing?

@DackIsBack I get pissed off all the time with the crap on TV. We're like a bunch of barbarians and everyone goes along with it.

There are just video clips designed to elicit an emotional reaction not a clear argument here

@krissy4nik @krissy4nik The argument here IS that tv commercials elicit an emotional reaction in us. When tv shows people being confused victims of their environment/being forced into helpless situations/resorting to crazy, violent behavior, it has an affect on us. Just like terrorism does. These commercials and others like them, teach us to be helpless. Tv commercials could show strong, independent characters in charge of their lives who choose a product wisely. These commercials are terrorism.

I agree with your premise for the most part I just dont think it was presented clearly or rationally it just seemed to be spooky music played over very mildly aggressive (some might say jokingly aggressive) adverts with the exception of the 9/11 footage.

@krissy4nik "Wink" advertising (see description). "Media savvy viewers pride themselves on their ability to watch programming from their own safe distance of ironic detachment. Advertisers know that their viewership prides itself on being able to deconstruct and understand the coercive tactics of tv. By "winking" at the audience... the advertiser is acknowledging there's someone out there smart enough not to be fooled. ...These self-conscious commercials help the viewer define his own identity."

@ThisWeekInFascism ...9/11 was an ad. It's been the commercial in our lives. Every time we take a break from our busy schedule, there it is being presented to us by politicians and tv, reminding us to give up our freedom and rights for our own benefit, so the ad says.
