If you don't like this ending, you don't understand the show. It was all shot from Tony's point of view...The last time Tony hears the bell and looks up, we see his last point of view, and it's black because he was shot in the head from behind by then guy who went to the bathroom. Best/Most creative ending I've ever seen because as stressed throughout the entire series, "I bet when it happens you don't even hear it" and neither do we.

The bathroom is a nice little homage to The Godfather too. It's also interesting to note that had Meadow not spent so long parking the car, she'd be sitting exactly between where Tony and the guy who went in the bathroom is, therefore obstructing the clear shot he has on Tony. Excellent ending, it's a shame some people will never bother to look further and understand it's brilliance.

i now understand the death.....the bell is portraying how paranoid tony is and that's why he always looks up to see who its is.....all the bells ring except for the guy that goes to the bathroom (who kills tony from behind) so why the screen goes black and the bell is heard is because that is the last time he looks up before being shot in the head. very interesting and brilliant ending if you ask me.
