COAS visits Peshawar to display solidarity with city and its people - November 25, 2009

COAS stated that during the recent spate of violence, Peshawar and Peshawarites have lived upto their proud traditions of bravery, resilience and grit. The purpose of this exclusive visit to the City of Peshawar was to demonstrate support and solidarity with the People and City of Peshawar. COAS mentioned that despite efforts by the terrorists to dent and dampen the spirit of the people of Peshawar, the City and its residents have displayed extra-ordinary resolve and tenacity for which COAS paid glowing tribute to them. COAS visited the City extensively. He also interacted with police and military leadership and lauded their combined efforts to ensure safety and security of the City. COAS visited Police Lines to acknowledge the sacrifices by the rank and file of NWFP Police and also met families of Police Shuhada. He announced Rs. 20 Million for Police Shuhada Fund and reiterated that Army will continue to provide all possible support to the Police. COAS also visited Khyber Institute of Technical Education (KITE), run under Corps Headquarters, where people from FATA are given technical training to equip them with requisite productive skills. The Institute has thus far trained 913 students in 7 batches. COAS commended the innovate spirit behind the Project. COAS paid a visit to Combined Military Hospital and appreciated the morale and spirit of soldiers injured during military operations. He also visited Lady Reading Hospital and inquired about the health of the victims of recent terrorists attacks in the City. Thanks to a man who feels the pain of Nation all the politicians should learn some lesson and instead of hiding should go and boost the morale of the nation.

I think time has come to train the polics force right across the country and this should be done by the military forces. So they can better perform in intellegence and fight against terrorism. On the other hand Police force has to change its image as a elite protection force and perform unbaisly as this is the requirement of this painful hour.
