For storing yeast and anything cultured: good luck. Learn how to make starters for breads from potatoes and just plain old flour starters. The air we breathe contains years molds and the starters "capture" them and ferment. In some cases you will see that others require sugar or honey to start. This gives you a sweeter bread in the end. Good luck and great vid.

Thanks! I forgot all about sour dough starters. It really does save your powdered yeast stash.
Ive never baked much bread but I decided that its a skill I need to master.
@thenewsurvivalist I too would like to know how to store yeast and baking powder long term. Any suggestions would be appreciated

@jcrefasi1 For the yeast look into making sour dough bread. For the baking powder you store the two ingredients used to make baking powder: baking soda and cream of tartar, which will store longer when stored separately, but they still have a shelf life.

Why not buy Animal feed? It's not treated with chemicals

@arshia2008 Animal feed is a great idea and is better than seed. All of them, unless organic, is treated with chemicals, even the ones bagged for human consumption.

I love your video. As far as wheat berries/ Seed wheat berries can be purchased at live stock feed stores and how long does it take for the pesticide to be gone/ 3years / five years? What about storing rice long term?

@tahjbo11 I don't know how long. I have others which are organically grown that I will use first so maybe I won't need this for a long time-hopefully never! If you can find wheat berries bagged for animal feed, rather than for seed, prefer the animal feed. Rice won't keep as long as wheat berries. I've heard white rice will keep much longer than brown, but of course is not as nutritious. I have personally kept brown rice for several years without any problems. White rice will keep 10 years+.
