I combined the tip of a French spindle with the bottom of a supported Russian spindle and came up with a spindle that can be twiddled in the hand for large singles as well as used as supported in a bowl for making thin singles.

I named it "The Rose" after my mother.

  • I got one of her spindles, and it is FANTASTIC!

She does fantastic work, it's really nice wood, and I'm very pleased with it. She does custom spindles, they're really reasonable in price, and she had it on its way to me in a week. :D

I may have to get another one out of a different kind of wood just 'cause they're so cool.

    Thanks!

  • I want one of these so bad...perhaps an after-Christmas gift to myself...squeeeee! I love the story behind it.

  • I got my first Rose spindle the other day and I am enjoying watching how it is used. Your work is beautiful, keep it up!

  • You are a winner! Love your new spindle! Do you sell your spindles that you make?

  • Great new spindle design!! Good lines and form. And it looks like an excellent spinner in both fashions. Why to go!

How sweet, and special that you named it Rose.
