  • @mrabuckten i agree. but ham radios are not cheap, and when the cellular infrastructure gets destroyed, they will save the world.

  • @NZ7Bqrp I have done it before on 6 meter, 2 meter, and 70 centimeter FM. My setup was simply a magnetic mount antenna on the rear fork of a bicycle and a Yaesu VX-5 running off of its internal battery. With the solar cycle ramping up it might be a good idea to try working the HF high bands from a bicycle as well. I could only do 10 meter SSB due to the limitations of my license class at this time.
