Lilies of the Field - Amen

This is the final scene in the film directed by Ralph Nelson. It's the scene where Homer Smith, played by Sidney Poitier leaves Mother Maria, played by Lilia Skala after building them a chapel. After taking one last look at the chapel he built, Smith, knowing that his work is done, slips into his car and drives quietly off into the night.

This song takes me back to simpler times when my parents were alive. I remember watching this.

This movie was released on July 5th, 1963. It relayed the upswing of what American society portrayed and believed in as far as loving neighbor and the

importance of sharing faith. It was a genuine movie. JFK was assassinated 4 months later, and the entire country changed after that.
