@stevebailey69 the gearing connecting the tail rotor axle was faulty, i believe it was stripped. the pilot didnt do anything wrong, just a vehicle malfunction. everyone survived if i remember correctly

@MaverickAv8tor , We were returning from picking up some passengers in Tucson in our UH-1h at 3000 ft. when we lost our tail rotor. It was to say the least, it was a time to come to jesus! We kept the speed up in an attempt to minimize the torque induce yaw. We hit hard but remained on the skids and everybody got out. I dont remember if it was a gearbox failure, but most likley

if you go straight for cpl (h) about 60k € if oyu do ppl h first and then go for cpl its about 80k € (and this is only on the schweizer 300 cbi) theory classes I cant really tell coz they merged the price together with the practical lessons

the pilot in the end reall did aweseomly well Im in my training to becoming a commercial pilot for helicopter and goddamn i wish i had his flying skills, the crew heli at 2:30 survived completely btw. Its an excerpt from a tutorial ive seen at piloting school.

the belt that drives the hydraulic pump was installed wrong and it broke. he lost his hydraulics and there fore had very little (if any) control of the helicoper
He loses control because his tail rotor has failed, described as "loss of tail rotor authority" it is possibly one of the worst things that can happen to a helicopter, the pilot actually does extremely well in this situation. There is not enough space here to explain what is happening mechanically in this situation, but basically, uneven power delivery to the rotors, the torque from the main rotor can no longer be resisted by the tail rotor once it loses power and the whole machine wants to spin

Yes, a kind of 'Advanced" DEP as you seem to be aware....where are you working on a Sunday ?
You are listed as being in Australia. So, you fly Helo ?
