@Yip1982 I think the Ballad of Billy McCaw actually fits better considering I can't see Growltiger getting romantic and singing in Italian. Also, he does seem like one to regularly visit a bar with his crew.

If Jon Mills was too old they could have gotten someone else to play Growltiger and used John for the elderly Gus. I wish they had done that cuz this song is awesome
