@RetroCaptain This is 100 percent true.They were forgotten once they became worn out appliances and at that time, had no value other than scrap value. Nobody wanted the complete cars, only a few parts were removed. Now, they are up to the rocker panels in muck, totally rusted away underneat, not to mention the insides of the mechanical assemblies. Nobody should be expected to gather, preserve, store, maintain old cars indefinately so that somebody can grab them for a few dollars later on.

@TheMostAwesomeMan242 Good day
You must realize one thing, then it will make sense;
1, they were rusty or at least broke down when they were left there, & they were not "antique" at that time.
2, it has been many many yrs that they sat, & many of the trees were either not there or were very young (& small)
Back then steel scrap was NOT of much value, & the cost of having old clunker hauled to wreckers cost more than the value of said vehicle. They have value today in 2012

VW 1500 might still be a runner after a view measures to get it back on the road... Just put the engine back in place and a few other minor things. There's nothing like a good old volks!!! And I know what I'm saying cause I'm German lol
