Nakhon Sithammarat is a city in the jangwat (province) of Nakhon Sithammarat in southern Thailand. Not associated with the violence often reported in the more southern provinces. It is a non-touristy place, not frequented by foreign visitors. It's the small things that count here, no big displays, just a nice little home town. For those who wish to know Nakhon I've spent some time just filming the area - just see what the daily life is here.
What does life look like? Here in Nakhon at this very time (2009) I decided to document the pace of life. Forgive me if there are many scenes of traffic, but this is a reality of what travel and daily lie is like in my city.
Hi, brings back memories - I spent a year there about 15 years ago, one of the best years of my life. There was a fantastic burger place down near the mosque, whicvh did a burger with pineapple to die for :p
We stayed in the Thai Lee hotel which was well priced and clean and pleasant. And the BEST restaurant (in the world I'd say) was a non descript place 1 road over from the Thai Lee run by two brothers I believe. I would always have Nuah pat krapaow - which is still my fave :D

@BabylonWhore666 Hey, sorry it took my a bit to figure out the comments on this YouTube account!
It might make you laugh that the day you left this comment I was eating at that very burger place you mentioned! It has to be the same place since it's just like you described, next to the intersection at the Muslim area and they have burgers with pineapple!
Sorry if it's all traffic in the video, but this is really what living here is like! I'm on that road twice a day at least!

How is Tha Sala?
Katharer45 1 year ago
@Katharer45 : Hi! Well Tha Sala is small by comparison, it has access (closer to the beaches) to a few decent beaches and some good restaurants though they are just basically street stalls. We go there for dinner sometimes.

@williameanderson Thanks for the info. I will go there in Sept/Oct. Could you recommend some hotels and beaches there? I mean in Tha Sala! Thanks a lot!

@Katharer45 : Tha Sala doe not have hotels that I know of. You could look around the coast area for bungalows on the beaches though. Nakhon Si thammarat is south 30 KM and is the place to stay, otherwise Sichon or Khanom which are north.
It's really small! I'll try and get some photos on our next trip up that way.
Oh, I just remembered there is a bungalow, "Sunrise" which is just to the south of town, but you need transportation - like a motorbike or a car to get around. Good luck!
