KDKA 10:00 News on the CW: O&O

KDKA's 10:00 News on Pittsburgh's CW also got the O&O treatment. Here's the Sunday night open, appropriately outfitted in a Steelers fan theme. One of the things I am beginning to love about the package is the discreet opens, such as this one or the 11PM "victory" open. It brings to mind the opens of the late 80s, where the ID portion of the open was placed overtop B-roll of one of the stories from that night's newscast.

they say "kdka" because its a pittsburgh tradition. cbs wouldnt dare change format to just cbs 2, since kdka was one of the first group of tv stations in the county. i do agree that the eye spin blows.

San Diego's CBS News 8 needs to do something like this. But they don't have to follow the CBS Mandate.

@tommyboy6181 i think it probably would have done very well. Prime, in my opinion, was KDKA. but they are now amongst a sea of standardized CBS Enforcer stations. the only way to distinguish KDKA from the rest is that they don't say CBS 2 News, they say KDKA-TV News. and i like that.....its personalization.

CBS graphics on CW might not fit well, but you have to make do with what you have.

I think KDKA so far has probably done the best opens with the new CBS O&O package. At least they are doing something different with all of those. I wonder how their old music would have done with the new look...

@tv412 KD's the only "Group W" station out of the 5 to have a custom backdrop on their opens, EVERY NIGHT AND MORNING, both on TV2 and The CW Pittsburgh (Channel 19).

Something KYW-3 should take example of their fellow sister station on the other side of the Commonwealth.

Well, yes, the legals do look quite nice on the opens... It's just that seeing KYW's "CBS 3" logo above a "WPSG-TV PHILADELPHIA" ID looks quite odd to my eyes.

@HulkieG But the legal IDs look so nice on the CBS stations. Seeing simply "WCBS-TV NEW YORK" or "KCNC-TV DENVER" underneath the logo looks really classy for most stations in my opinion.
