In the summer of 2007, Calvin Hayes visited Norway for the first time in nearly two decades, since the brief, but sucessful period he, Mike Nocito and Clark Datchler ruled the hit-charts with songs like I Don't Wanna Be A Hero, Turn Back The Clock and not at least Shattered Dreams. In this first part from the new interview-series done by John Berge (http://www.johnnyhatesjazz.com), Calvin tells about what has happened to him and the other band members since the 80's, he talks about the band project from 1983 Hot Club and the single It Ain't Me Girl (which featured Clark Datchler), of course he talks about his father, the famous record producer Mickie Most (born Michael Peter Hayes), and his own start and education in the music industry.
The next interview, Part Two, will be published here on YouTube quite shortly. In all there will be approximately five or six interview segments.

I decide to make him that coffee as an olive branch, a peace offering.
Only instead of filling up the kettle in the kitchen I decide to fill it up myself in the toilet and take some consolation and comfort in the fact that Champagne Calvin is sipping on a lovely mixture of Nescafe and urine whilst groping our Kate the Saturday girl.

You’re in Johnny Hates jazz mate, You’re not Bryan Ferry.
I decide to leave him in his vain attempts to romance our young female staff who are looking at me to save them from his over zealous hands on approach.
I decide to make him that coffee as an olive branch, a peace offering.

Virgin records rep ,who was a good friend, I attempted to keep things as amicable and as comfortable as possible. Obviously I didn’t let on that I thought they were a complete pile of shite.
I feign interest in his group and ask how it’s all been going and how the current tour is doing but he doesn’t want to know me, he’s too busy trying to tap up the female staff and when our young girl offers him a tea or coffee he says “oh darling have you any champagne ?”

Many would drop by on me and most I found to be really amicable and we’d get on fine but one time around 1988 we got a visit from Calvin Hayes son of the late Mickie Most and at that time he was one third of the successful chart pop group Johnny hates Jazz who’d just scored a couple of big hits in the UK.
His ego could barely get through the door and we instantly got off on the wrong footing but out of respect to my Virgin records rep ,who was a good friend {END Of PT 1}

allourlove and bigjohnnyjazzfan - why would you want to bother to write anything negative. Keep it to yourself if you are feeling negative. This is a very interesting interview. I didn't know Mickey was Calvin's dad.
