What do you get when you combine the greater community of Northwest Indiana along with faculty, staff and students from Valparaiso University? A whole lot of fun! And, an annual tradition appropriately named Communiversity Day. The all-day celebration included a whole slew of activities such as Day of Caring in the morning, in which over 500 students, faculty and staff members volunteered in various service projects in the community. A tailgate barbecue with carnival games along with a volleyball and football game took place as well, and with the historic unveiling of the lights at Brown Field, the community was excited to see the first Valparaiso University night football game.
"Community is very important to Valparaiso University. Both the close-knit campus community we have and also the very special relationship we have with Northwest Indiana as a whole," explained Dustin Wunderlich, Senior Director of Public Relations.
