Mechanical Engineering Egg Design Project

this is my and kyle's freshman year mechanical engineering design project. we were supposed to design a machine that carried an egg under a 25cm bridge and over a 50cm wall. we did it, just as planned.

how good do u need to be at math in mechanical engineering and what other skills do u need to have to be able to capable of getting you degree?

@TruAzn100 math is a huge part of it, you'll need all the math from algrebra, geometry, calc 1,2 and 3, differential equations, linear algebra and then some. you'll need a few chemistry and physics classes, as well as a dozen or more engineering classes. A good program should take 4 years at a minimum, but after the 4 years of hell, you should be pretty comfortable with your pay.

@aman11022 haha yea, there were some teams that did, but their results were inconsistent. They used bubble wrap and hoped the egg didn't break. Our approach was spot-on consistent every time.

Hey uuuhh, im a student(12th grade) im goin for mechanical, what purpose does calculus and derivatives in particular have in this engineering? Cuz, well, it hard to describe the applications.

im a student in my last year of high school doing ap level classes. i have to design a pendulum in the next two weeks. its like a competition(longest swing period highest grade) and im sure i could use some help.

Awesome that looks really cool! I wanna be a mechanical engineer and do you know those lego mindstorm things? It like you build your own robot then you program it on the computer. DO you think that would be worth it to buy? Because i was thinking baout getting it

@dirtman711 4 years of hell? Studding is awesome! All the activities, party's and such. Sure it is allot of work, but I think that it is allot more fun then frustrating :)
