Fusha Dance Company performs the Congolese Dance "D'Jeci Malumbo" at the Alvin Ailey Theater in NYC.
Funmilayo Chesney is the Founder, Choreographer and artistic Director of Fusha Dance Company.
"D'Jeci Malumbo" is a Rites of Passage Dance from the Congo, it is a flirtation dance.
Dancers:
Funmilayo Chesney,N'tifafa Koko, Shanika Johnson,Mary Anglade,Jeanette Sena Muhlmann,Tara Butler, Tosha Browne,Raven Holmes, Zen-Marie Holmes
Percussion:
Olumide Phillip Gilbert,Tirzo Keeling, Peter Barr, Al MacDowell
The original choreography was created in 1995 by Tanawa Dance Company and Malaki Ma Kongo, with Artistic Directors Toto Sampa and Thelma Martin.
