On a freezing Friday night in early January, cup-holders Everton started the defence of their trophy at Division Two Leeds Utd in the first of the 3rd Rd ties to be played that year. This, Everton's seventh triumphant FA Cup tie on the spin, thanks to a Graeme Sharp penalty and an unorthodox Kevin Sheedy free-kick, saw them embark on another run towards what was the second of three consecutive Wembley finals in the competition.
