@kirk7524875248 It's on Schwantz Lefantz's Facebook page.

@hauser There's a Schwantz Lefantz web page on Facebook with a ton of songs posted. Just do a search on the band name of FB, then click their "Bandpage", which has the music player.

I used to go see Shwantz Lefantz at Fat Dawgs in Lubbock , Tx .... i was really young but I knew the people running the bar so they always let me in .... my favorite bands back then were Schwantz and another Tx band called High Function . If anyone has any current news about the members of High Function please , please let me know ..they were very kind to this young drummer , taking me under their wings and teaching me about music .

Does anyone have "Ballpark" by Shwantz Lafantz to upload? Greatness!

Stan Rosenthal be Smpupies friend
If I do that. Yeah I got it, but I've never put that online. I'll think about it. :-)

Holy Smokes, Schwantz mp3s!..thanks for posting these! I never got a chance to get a copy of 'Ballpark'. The only thing I have is 'Can't Stop' on vinyl. Got any more Ballpark? I'd love to hear 'Larry Mondello' again. Thanks again!

Ed Loftus (Keys/Vocals) used to be in a county/western band back when he lived in *NEW YORK*. From my understanding, he fronted that band under the title of Schwantz Lefantz. Now where that originated from there? The theory is that it's a combination of French and German that basicly means "baby's ass".

Actually, some of us old Schwantz fans considered this era of Schwantz to be a "haircut band". I don't think it's fair to call Limited Warranty a "haircut band" in this context.
And I had never heard that (the instrumentals were recorded earlier in the day.) And I was in contact enough with the band back then that I think I would've heard that if it were true. But you got at least one thing. Schwantz was definitely one of the "best legit live bands" out there in those days.
Limited Warranty? Sounds like just another me-too band from that era. Schwantz, OTOH, was a truly unique band with an eclectic sound and repertoire and a great live show. They played their own great originals along with Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Tom Waits, Steely Dan, and more. They weren't really a show band though and it doesn't surprise me that they didn't win this competition.
So what happened to technohippie? I'd love to hear some of those old Schwantz recordings.

Limited Warranty were NOT a "me-too" band. Funny , they played covers along with THEIR originals too, which included Led Zepplin & Lynyrd Skynyrd. You know, just because the band had really good-looking guys in it, doesn't make them a bad band. Gee, look at DuranDuran now... they are considered classic, when back in the day they were discounted as fluff. Broaden your musical tastes and stop spreading sour grapes.

The guys in Schwantz said that for SS, they had to record the instrumentals earlier in the day, and then sing live to the instrumental track later on the show that night.
BUT the show's producers played back the intrumental track at a slightly faster speed (this was in the days of tape, before digital) and the singer couldn't solidly hit some of the higher notes.
Its ironic that a crappy "haircut band" beat out Schwantz, one of the best legit live bands I ever saw. Thanx for posting the clip.

Funny, this crappy "haircut band" actually had a major record contract still has a large following and 3 of the members have their own studios and are QUITE successful with tv & film music. You know just because LW beat Schwant, it doesn't make them crappy. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Oh, and for a crappy "haircut band" they opened for Tina Turner, Cyndy Lauper, Rick Springfield, Duran Duran, and countless others that were HUGE at the time. Must not be that crappy. ;o)
