Dear California, Got feasible green energy capacity right here and now to be truly weened and not self-starved? Nope. Got enough oil to fuel the third largest oil-consuming entity on the planet until you truly can offset it with green energy? Nope. Feel good about the Governor stereotyping, bad mouthing, and damaging otherwise great relationships with your biggest domestic suppliers? I'm shaking in my little billionaire boots. Got $10 a gallon? Much sooner than later. -Love, Texas

@Raphinater How many thousands of lung-related diseases would we avoid if Los Angeles had cleaner air? The medical care needed for these avoidable cases costs real money. Same with contaminated water supplies, fisheries & real estate damaged by oil spills. We call these inconveniences "externalities" and there's a lot of nasty ones associated with oil.
Whose revenue is increasing if it had passed? Economic gains would be minor.
-
@spikesmth overall increase in revenue. and please explain how pollution will make prices increase.
-
@Raphinater Ok, so energy prices would stay a little bit lower and everybody pays extra in the form of more pollution -> medical costs, broader climate implications, potential risk to food supplies. Jobs that would otherwise be in renewable energy stay in dirty energy. Oil use in general has foreign policy implications as well which make it undesirable. It's just an excuse to wait on something we're supposed to be 15 years ahead in by now. Don't mistake a quip for obliviousness.
-
@spikesmth you think this is only going to help the fat cats owning the oil companies? are you that oblivious? damn

nice no 23 has win
