  • I feel bad for this dog. It clearly has no idea what sit means, and has certainly not been taught it using appropriately applied training methodologies.

That dog is clearly using calming signals to calm the person who is repeatedly saying sit in a tone that most people use for no.

I think its a testament to the breed that it didn't do what many frustrated dogs would have done in that situation, which is either shut down (stop signaling) or attack.

  • If greyhounds think you are mad with them they fret and will do nothing but worry, which is what this one is doing. Fun, higher pitch voice and an incentive for a bit (piece of cheese is good) and they'll soon get it.

  • U suck. I have a greyhound, and I have no problem getting him to "LAYDOWN". Most don't sit, and obviously yours don't either. When they comply to your command, giving them a reward, or a "good boy" compliment, helps when you do so.

  • @fingaroll5 Can't tell if trolling or just stupid.

  • @TheAnnannannanna Same. My greyhound learns very quickly. There have only been a few things that took more than three to five times to train him at and they've all been things that made him nervous.

Sometimes he doesn't listen but it's very clear that he's choosing not to listen. I always start with a soft/gentle tone and change to something more stern (not louder, just deeper pitched) and 9 times out of 10 that works.

I've never asked my greyhound to sit. Just to "lay down".

  • Greyhounds arent physically able to sit, or if they do their hindquarters dont touch the ground and it is very uncomfortable for them. Greys are very smart and are very trainable (because they are so sensitive) with a simple stern "no" or gentle encouragement, so in general if your Grey isnt doing something despite your best efforts, theres probably a bigger problem than just behavior. Our Greys know "lay down" instead and are perfectly happy doing that on command instead of "sit".

  • @fingaroll5 Greyhounds aren't the most brilliant, but no dog will sit just because you say it. They have to be trained. As for killing a dog just because you're frustrated...well, you're an asshole.

  • Greyhounds typically don't sit. When they do, it's kind of a sideways thing or more of a crouch. Mine will lay down when I tell her. She does everything that she understands. She doesn't sit.

  • This is not typical greyhound..? My greyhounds listens perfectly to sit, lay down, come here and so on.. and they're amazingly easy to train! Never had any problems with them at all.. and they sit down naturally while resting and/or waiting. Their ass just don't touch the ground, that's the only difference I know..

  • ha he is like fuck you :p

  • That's a very nice dog. Some breeds are, of course, more trainable then others, and some owners are just better with dogs then others. I've just seen one of the most beautiful greyhounds I've ever seen, beeing nicely trained in this video: watch?v=yzAhNVbnORc

  • i have 2 greyhounds and both sit on their own without me training them. i also work for a rescue and i have many others who sit. SOME cant usually depending on body type. so all this "they cant sit" stuff is misinformation
