Big thanks to the Al Jazeera for this first hand piece of awareness. I'm grateful that such issues had been and now addressed on a very professional manner, let alone the failure to address it in time. It is notable to acknowledge the said alternatives and government strategy in counteracting these socio-economic realities. Political instability, corruption and failure to engaged in sustainable development will always be the co-factor of people giving away land for logging.

I'm a Malaysian, and I want to apologize to all Solomons resident as well as to the world and Mother Earth.
I'm sorry.
I know an apology dont mean anything nor do anything, but I.. really dont know what else can I do.
I cant even save my country and my country is killing life and world. It really hurts me a lot knowing that.
I'm sorry, that we exist and for what my country have done.

I know too that an apologize don't mean anything and don't "do" anything. But I really don't know what else can I do.

I've been to the Solomons 3 times, spending a total of 12 weeks there. I travelled extensively around Santa Isabel Island. For sure the locals are being ripped off by overseas logging companies. But this video totally misrepresents whats actually going on. The Solomons are mostly very steep mountainous islands, vulcanic in origin. Much of the country is simply too steep to be logged. Simply flying in to the capital, Honiara, from Australia you will see just how steep this country is.
