Human Lobotomy

This wants to be a presentation of the very last minute of
consciousness before a lobotomy. The procedure that brought
António Egas Moniz the Nobel price, even though more
than 90% of the cases treated by this procedure became
mentally retarded. I wonder what kind of society would
grant its honors to a person that mentally crippled more
than 40.000 people.

In 1977, the U.S. Congress created a National Committee
for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and
Behavioral Research to investigate allegations that
psychosurgery including lobotomy techniques was used to
control minorities and restrain individual rights. It has also
investigated after-effects of the surgery. The committee
concluded that some extremely limited and properly
performed psychosurgery could have positive effects.
