Irish Weather Online has compiled images of Ireland and Britain from space for the period 25 November 2010 to 07 January 2011. During this period the islands experienced two severe spells of cold weather. The first lasted from 27 November though to December 9th while a second much more severe spell of weather commenced on 17 December and ended on 27th December 2010. All images from Nasa/Modsis. • Excellent compilation. I particularly like the images of 22 Dec (around 1min 45sec)

  • @1906DEREK Thank you Derek. Those images from around the 22nd illustrate those snow streamers over Dublin, Wicklow, Meath and Kildare that brought heavy snow for much of the day. You can also see the Isle of Man Shadow effect, whereby irish coastal locations in the shadow of the island missed out on the heavier precipitation

  • That was such a b**tard of a winter (by our standards in Ireland)... it hit on the night of Friday 26th/Saturday 27th November like a sledgehammer... heavy thunderstorms, sleet, snow, plummeting temperatures....
