The new Audie Spider in action www.audiesa.co.za
Here we are drilling 46meters deep and could go to 200m if we didn't get so much water.
This drill is made for drilling DTH and Mud rotary .It has 2000Nm torque and 50000Nm pull back capacity.
It weights a mere 2500 Kg and can be towed by a Land cruiser or similar.
@Erniz2
Well that is easy when drilling DTH - The dust turns to mud. On mud rotary drilling it is a bit more tricky
Sometimes you will see bubbles in the drill mud. The drill mud's viscosity changes as fresh water dilute the drilling fluid.
With practise it gets better.

how do you know you hit the water?

Instead of high maintenance -cables and pulleys, the Spider has a telescopic tower and an 80 barrel 60 shaft cylinder with a 8.79 ton pull back ability, bigger than any of the other drill rigs which are able to be towed by small pickups.

The Spider does not use the light weight 60-76mm drill pipe instead uses a robust 89mm Schedule 40 drill pipe with 2 3/8 internal flush threading which gives very little resistance to the drilling fluid being pumped down the drill string.

@sodofoh The cost of the Spider is US$ 60,000.

@Warvancrusade The price of the Spider is US$60,000 (South African Rand ZAR 450,000) and will drill many holes for many years. The technology on this rig is proven in Africa as it uses a F3L912 3 cylinder air cooled engine and a KV3 Kawasaki piston pump. After drilling more than 100m the oil temperature in the heat of summer was 57 degrees Celcius. The Spider uses Rocket valves and white drive products from America supplies the rotational torque.

@sodofoh it costs 400,000 thousand dollars to drill for 12 seconds
