  • thank you for this vid...i found it very helpful .....I think it can be so much more helpful sometimes to just watch someone else just do something then go do it yourself....rather than listening to someone ramble on and on in there own words (sometimes that makes it more confusing) Gonna put a zipper in a jacket for my son today! Thanks

  • @moomoo0508 I'm glad you found it useful.

  • I need to put a zipper into the sweater-jacket I just finished. It is also my first zipper - yipes! Any hints for the zipper-in-the-sweater?

  • @kkitomura I would sew it in by hand so the sweater doesnt stretch. It doesnt need to be that strong...just tiny running stitches, maybe double it so there is a continuous line of stitches on both sides.

I personally would do it that way. But if you must use the machine, then use some kind of stabilizing tape on the seam line to keep the sweater from stretching. The main thing you want to avoid is ripples when the zipper closes. good luc

  • This was really great. Can I use the same technique if I am making a linen with zipper for my crochet bags?? Or is this ideal only for inner pockets??

  • @philosgal This is called a 'railroad zipper' because it is like a rr track with the zipper in the center of two even margins. You can use it in any installation either with an open top a closed one as in the video.Closed is good for an inside pocket or purse. Open is good for garments especially in the back seam. The other option is a left lapped zipper usually used in skirts and other side garment closings.(I haven't made a video for that) Good luck.
