A Canadian gets 3 1/2 years in a Thai jail for murdering her

A Canadian woman has been sentenced to 3-½ years in a Thai jail today for killing her American partner. The deceased man claimed to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and was facing fraud charges in Hawaii for taking money in the name of a cult he founded.

Margaret Crane got two years for killing 56-year-old George Patrick Dubie after a quarrel at a restaurant and 1-½ years for possessing and carrying a pistol in public.
Margaret Crane told police that George Patrick Dubie was abusive and hit her and their six children. Their relationship worsened when he became involved with a Thai woman. She went to see Dubie at a restaurant to get cash he promised to give her and their six children during a stay in Thailand, but he abused her verbally and said their youngest daughter was not his. Margaret Crane then shot him with a pistol.
Dubie ran a cult in the 1980s in Hawaii, claiming to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. He took the life savings of his followers for his own enjoyment.

This seems fair to me. Life for smuggling drugs. 3.5 year for shooting an American. It is probably life for shooing other people but shooting an American is really just helping to clean the country up a bit.
