Back when I first started playing banjo, I came across a lot of fellow aspiring banjo pickers on youtube, one of which was a fellow who went by the Handle of BanjoPariah. He turned me on to a banjo builder by the name of Brian Carver, who built this gourd banjo, and I couldn't be happier with it.

He uploaded a sample recording of his own gourd banjo, playing what he called nothing more than a musical doodle, but it was a very pleasant little melody. He closed his account a good while ago, but while I was picking my gourd this morning that little doodle came to my mind and I decided to share what i could remember of it. Banjopariah, if you're watching, this one's for you.

  • I want to try to make a gourd banjo soon, though I doubt it'll have a sound quite so nice. beautiful instrument.

  • @clownfragment I would definitely say go for it! The world needs more of these instruments. The only way to get a sound like this is to try, try again!

  • Good doodle! I own 2 Carver Banjo's and love them both.

  • @TheBanjoBoy Thanks! Yes, I love my Carver banjos. They're perfect for playing lullabies or for re-imagining songs you've already got down.

  • Well done, well played, well said. I miss that guy as well and wonder what drove him so suddenly from our virtual midst. Take care, .... Have you heard Adam Hurt's "Earth Tones" easily one of the best banjo recordings I have witnessed.

    Take care God Bless,

    Art

  • @arthurj2520 I have heard that recording, and I agree, it's fantastic. I miss Banjopariah and his music, and I hope wherever he is, he's happy and doing well.
