Picked up one of these for some direct recording and toying around. Just went for the stereotypical mid-heavy, compressed "djent" tone.

Signal chain is Ibanez RGA 121 - Axe-FX Standard - Presonus Firebox - Mac Book Pro.

Axe-FX setup is Compressor - OD - FAS Modern - 4x12 V30 - SM57 - High-Pass Filter.

  • try using the german cab instead of the v 30 and instead of using the compressor use the 808 model drive at 0 and level at full, also what has helped me with these kind of tones is a peq, mess around with the mids boosted around 700 to 800 hz.

  • @mniel8195 Thanks for the suggestions. I'm actually using both a pedal compressor block and a 808 block (drive 0, level full, cutting some bass). Might be a little overgained though. I'll look at a PEQ as well.

@shrimptim HEY MAN let's touch base on AIM, it's definitely been a while haha
