Shanna, from Hanguk Drama, asked me to talk about my Korean learning journey so this is my video with answers to her questions. Enjoy!

  • Haha you listen to Kpop eh? I just got into it like a year or two ago, and it's all I listen to now.. Who do you listen to.

You should make some vids of you in the city, it'd be interesting to see it from a non-Korean(ethnic)'s perspective.

  • My favorite groups are Big Bang and Epik High (though I like many others).

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing a video of my area

  • Hey friend, I have a question that I ask a lot of Korean people but they can't give me a response that I can make sense of. Basically I was reading a Korean comic book called 한자 도둑, and I was trying to translate the following sentences into English: 한때 최고의 전사 '팔라딘'의 호칭을 받았던 도스칼리버!! 하지만 네녀석도 내 상대는 못 돼!!!

  • @omsct I think you better ask someone who knows both languages very well, I can't make much sense of it. Anyone out there able to translate this for him?

  • Oh my god. Your site, koreanwikiproject, is amazing. I have been looking for a learning resource to learn hangeul properly and your site is amazing and so easy and effective. I'm so glad I found you. Thanks for the suggestion as well as the founding of the site.

  • No problem ^^ I should note that I was a co-founder not not 'the' founder. Chris started it and invited me to help him enlarge the project. I am simply a part of the big picture

  • Hey, Matt,

Do you know of any 12wk program online, or does anyone reading this know of any? Also cartoons in Korean a website like wwitvdotcom

  • I only got into K-pop this year when I've been watching Korean dramas my whole entire life~ (yes, because my parents once got into a sageuk drama obviously, Dae Jang Geum) hahahah

  • Interesting that they sent you to Vancouver (my hometown), since there isn't a very coherent Korean community here. Not saying there *aren't* Korean people, but compared to Toronto...

  • @omsct. "도스켈리버, your name was once synonymous with 팔라딘, the greatest warrior that ever lived. However, even you are no match for me."

It's a pleasant surprise to see another person learning from Korean comics. IMHO, Once a person becomes proficient in Hangul, Korean comics is the best place to expand one's knowledge about the Korean language, history, culture, and, most importantly, sensibilities.

  • @h0rangi Lol, no worries. The reason I was reading that comic book is because I wanted to learn to read Korean, and also wanted to learn some Chinese characters. I figured that with a Korean comic book teaching a few Chinese characters I could kill two birds with one stone.

  • @h0rangi *who earned the best warrior's title*

    sorry. typo.

  • @omsct "Once upon a time, there was 도스칼리버 (whoever the hell that is) earned the best warrior's title of 'Paladin'!! But you guys couldn't even be an opponent to me!

That's what it says. What it means bewilders me completely. What you reading that nonsense for?? Maybe it would make more sense if I could see the surrounding context hmm.

P.S. I don't want to see the surrounding context.
