This is the final cut of my Redux version of the disaster film Airport '77 (The 3rd in the Airport series). The film itself was greeted with mixed reviews, depending on how you saw the Airport series (As serious action or laughable). Some saw the concept of a 747 sinking into the sea and staying in one piece unrealistic, and yet they also saw it as the strongest of the Airport sequels, and the most exciting.
The purpose of this cut was to remove the cliched elements of typical 70's disaster movies (When they were trying to duplicate Irwin Allen's early success), and also add a more impactful musical score, once again by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith, using his music from "Alien" and "Air Force One". Unfortunately, because of music already in place in the movie, it prevented a more comprehensive score overhaul.
To improve the pacing, this version has about 15 minutes cut from the theatrical cut. Among the cuts are:
-The god awful blind pianist and his love story with Kathleen Quinlan. Some things are just not meant to be ever seen again.
-A lot of passenger wallowing and weeping
-A lot of pre crash subplots (Such as Stevens' cancer that never gets mentioned again, anything involving the kids, etc.)
-The pointless mention of Dr. Williams not being a human doctor
-Scenes of Jimmy Stewart wallowing
-Excessive scenes with the divers
I previous posted a rough cut that was taken down. I took the opportunity to fine tune it. I hope you all enjoy this, and comments are appreciated!

EXCELLENT job with the editing. I didn't think I would like it at first, but you did it justice.

this is exactly why i DON'T watch movies on network tv...for better or worse these decisions should only be made by the filmmakers
