I think that if you are going to start babysitting you should take classes. If I have a kid and I need a babysitter I will not even talk to the person if they didn't have training.

Ive watched just about all the episodes of Rescue 911 that I could find on Youtube and have never heard anyone panic so much on the phone. That did not help the child at all.

I was a babysitter for years and I never fed hotdogs or popcorn. It's too dangerous. Especially popcorn since it can swell.

Agree....that baby was way too young to have a hot dog. She should have given him something softer, like applesauce

Other than not knowing basic first aid her only mistake was panicking as much as she did. Panicing a little is normal, but you actually delay helping the child if the dispatcher can't understand what you're saying or you're too paniced to do what they tell you to do.

I took special Red Cross baby sitting classes that taught us first aid and CPR and what to do with certain situations. Awesome class.

Do it! It'll so be worth it! You'll never know when you'll need it. Take First Aid classes as well. I actually had to use my skills when a friend of mine had a grand mal seizure. It felt so good when he hugged me the next time he saw me and thanked me. I need a refresher soon myself.

That must have been really scary for her b/c she was so young. I admit she was a bit too panicky.... But I can't say I wouldn't have panicked too.
