ye, and even here the presenters are pressuming ned means working class. but it dosnt. it has ALWAYS since the early 80s at least been used to describe a PARTICULAR type of arsehole.
and that poor girl thinks a ned wears designer clothes? what? she thinks basebaal caps and cheap track siuts are designer? ha ha ha.
neds tend to be weedy dumb, sly, arrogant, rascist, classist, violent, theiving, druggy, buckfast drinking idiots.

jane seems a bit confused about chav or ned meanijng girls from poor backgrounds ( jordan) being chavs (which, dont get me wrong, she is) but chavs, or more in particualr, neds, i scottish culture, DONT even bother to dress "abive their station". she missed the point.

yeh n that acronym for chav is bollocks too - it came from the geordie word charver - meaning scally or scumbag - the media gave it that whole burberry, jade goodie bullshit spin - chav is a word they want you to use to make light of the fact that the fucking country is going down the pan - theres nothing wrong with being a chav - but there's everything wrong with calling someone a chav -it gives that cartoon joke image to something that isnt really that funny - i bet a polititian made it up

@JohnoJayMac Non Educated Delinquent doesn't exist as a phrase. The correct grammar is uneducated delinquent. I prefer to think that Ned comes from ne'er do well (never do well).
it's an acronym formerly used by police.
