Imam Shafi`i (r)
Al-hafiz al-Suyuti relates in Ta'yid al-haqiqa al-`aliyya that Imam al-Shafi`i said:
I accompanied the Sufis and received from them but three words: their statement that time is a sword: if you do not cut it, it cuts you; their statement that if you do not keep your ego busy with truth it will keep you busy with falsehood; their statement that deprivation is immunity.(1)

The muhaddith al-`Ajluni also relates in his book Kashf al khafa wa muzil al albas that Imam Shafi`i said:

Three things in this world have been made lovely to me: avoiding affectation, treating people kindly, and following the way of tasawwuf.(2)

Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya in his Madarij al-salikin (3:12 and al- Suyuti in his Ta'yid al-haqiqa al-`aliyya (p. 15) also relate that Imam al-Shafi`i said:

All Great Islamic Scholars Praise Tasawwuf (Sufism) the likes of Imam Ghazali(r) ,Imam Shafi (r) , Imam Hanifa(r) , Imam Hambal (r), Imam Malik (r) etc even the Salafi Giants like Ibn Qayyim Al- Jawzi and Ibn Tamyyia have written a great deal of literature IN Praise of Tasawwuf (Sufism).
One of the putative authorities of "Salafis" is Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, yet when Ibn Qayyim states something which contravenes what "Salafis" claim, they are at a loss that their own authority refutes them. Ibn Qayyim said in Madarij al-salikin (2:307):

Religion consists entirely of good character (al-dinu kulluhu khuluq). Whoever surpasses you in good character surpasses you in religion, and the same is true of Tasawwuf ( Sufism)

Imam Bukhari (R) quotes this Hadith

from Abdullah ibn Umar (Radiallhu Anhu) that the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) once prayed for Syria (Shaam) and Yemen. It is narrated that there were some people of Najd also present in the gathering and they requested the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) to make du'a for Najd also.

The Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) continued saying: "O! Allah, Shower Blessings on Shaam and Yemen," The people of Najd again requested the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) to offer prayers for Najd.

The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam)

said: "It ( Najd) is a place of tremor and

Fitna (Mischief) and the horn of Shaitaan will rise from there." ( Sahi Bukhari , Vol. ii, PP. 1050)

It can be deduced from the above Hadith that Najd ( Riyadh ) is neither blessed nor a good place but one of Fitna and Evil. Najd has been deprived of the prayers of the Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) and therefore Najd has the seal of misery and misfortune and hoping for any good from there is going against the Will of Allah.

Sahl b. Hunaif reported Allah's Apostle Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam (may peace be upon him) as saying: There would arise from the east( Najd) a people with shaven heads. Sahi Muslim (Book #005, Hadith #2338)


Prophet(Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallam) said "Nearing Qiyamah there will be a Group of people who will recite the Holy Quran but it will not go below their throats. They will leave the true Religion of Islam as fast as an arrow leaves the bow. They will be recognized by the shavings of their entire head and they will move in Groups and their last Group will emerge with Dajjal, when you meet them you will discover their nature and character, the worst of its kind." The Modern day Salafi Wahhbi Najadi in truth do not follow anybody not even the Salaf , all they follow is their own fancy version of Islam , they are nothing but modern day Khawarij rebels against Islam calling slogan we don't follow any particular Sunni Imam or Sunni pious person or saint we follow ONLY what we feel is RIGHT in Islam , ECHOING the cry of their forefathers Khawarij rebels who are also from Najd .

salam alikum ikhwan: if a sufi knows fiqh well and follows shariaa; he is is not making bidaa sayaa such as shaking head or body during thikr ; he is ok. he can make dhikr and cjamaa dua or jamma dhikr no problem.

I did not say that. Imam Qurthubi stated that in his tafseer & I've given u the reference. Ifu ave a problem with it, then refute Imam Qurthubi. U say Imam Shafii said this, Imam Qurthubi said another thing. So who to judge? Go back to Quran/authentic Sunnah. These are the only acceptable judges to u & me, right? So where in authentic Sunnah that says people can in congregation do zikir while dancing saying aloud in unison, "Ya Hu! Ya Daim! Ya Sultan! Ya Manan! Ya Hanan! etc repeatedly?"
