antonette and i skipped town and decided to spend a few days in the kansai region. it's pretty far away, but if you take the shinkansen (the bullet train) it's only a 50 min. train ride from nagoya. more footage of that later.

we spent our first day traveling to himeji, a city famous for it's castle. himeji castle is one of twelve japanese castles still standing in their original condition. it's also the largest. take a look.

check my blog for a sweet himeji castle slideshow as well, http://marlowg.blogspot.com/

  • neat! thanks for the info.

  • The straw blankets attract bugs in winter.

So they put them on the trees in winter and burn them in spring.

It is a traditional way of insect pest management.
