The Accord is actually based off the Acura RL. The 2008 accord has the 2006 acura rl technology. An yes cars are always being upgraded for competition life.

@TangoR34 This model was only the Tl/Inspire from 2007... they did the model refresh that year... You are wrong about why they brought it down here...
Since 2003 they have called the TL the accord !
The inspire was always 1 year ahead of the next tl or accord Gen to come For the US

This used to be an Acura TL, but to compete in US market with Camry with V6s they had to bring this model down. So technically the Accord didn't grow, it's just people are driving an Acura instead. The current US made TL is just ugly as hell
