Umi performed in Killington Music Festival in Vermont in Aug, 2009. She made a story to this piece with her teacher, which is about a little bird who gets lost in the forest and be apart from his mom. It starts with the narrative part with sad and slow melody. "Long long time ago, there was a little bird living in the forest with his mother bird. The mother bird was not feeling very good one day,,," Then the
melody changes and the story begins with the little lark who decides to fly by himself, hoping to find some foods for his mom. He promises to his mom he will come back. The little bird is a little bit scared to go, but he flies to far. Then suddenly big wind blow.
He is lost and doesn't know where his mom is. He tries really hard to look around, but it is windy and perhaps rainy, too. Towards the end of the music, there is a part that reminds us a big wind, and the bird starts falling from the sky. And you hear nice, quiet and warm music. He opens his eyes slowly and finds himself nice and safe in his mom's arms. He wonder if he was just dreaming. The mother bird is all well now, and she is smiling at the little bird. He is really sleepy and feels safe and happy. He goes back to sleep in warm wings of his mom. ---The End. Hope you enjoy! For Umi's upcoming performances, please visit www.umipiano.com

  • Umi - your expression of this piece is superb and fills the soul as well as the ears. Thank you.

  • You are so pretty and talented. Off course, you've heard millions of time before, but I still wanted to say it. When I see you at the piano teachers house, I admire your talent and when i hear the piano, I never know weather it's you or the teacher playing. Well done and keep up the good work.

  • young lady with a caring mom and dad and a piano teacher that stays with her. But only God can give this gifted young lady the abilities we wish we all had in ourselves. To Umi, I say "May the Lord bless you and keep you" dearest Umi. Just look at her skill and demeanor, and her charm, all packed into a little girl. Her smile just melts me every time. Don't ever let her go among evil people
