I agree that some of the best music wasn't considered popular, however, I draw the line to those who consider a song or artist not cool, simply because they are popular. Sometimes the good ones slip through the cracks in the opposite direction.

I think in the past fifteen years I (purposefully) listened to popular radio once just to put my finger on its pulse. Perhaps in another ten years I'll do it again. Popularity does not make something interesting, creative or productive. Pop (Popular) music is one of many sources of cutural feedback. And right now, I'm just not impressed. Thumbs up to Tangerine Dream and other groups/artists that had the integrity to think for themselves.

@JDubs878 Try alternative music rather than the crap/pulp they broadcast on popular radio stations.
Listen to Ratatat or Fat Freddies Drop. There's plenty of good stuff cominig out it's just harder to find than the stuff you listed.
