Interesting.
Huckabee says, at 3:38, that "the genious and the brilliance of [the Constituion] was that it was intended to be amended. That's why African Americans are considered people, because we amended the Constitution".

Just imagine... if the US Constitution was not amendable, in Huckabee's mind black people today would apparently not be people!

I can't believe the interviewer was so caught up in getting an answer to his original question that he totally let that statement slip by!

The Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11. There is no chance of misinterpretation of what the Founding Fathers believed in settling this country. This idiot, this theocrat (synonyms in my eyes) Huckabee has little clue what he is talking about. The first sentence of Article 11 of the treaty reads "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." If everyone is equal, Mike, no one man has the right to tell anyone whom they can/can't marry.

The federal government has for a long time researched scenarios in which they can dismantle the constitution by public outcry. In the most positive scenario, officials allowed certain events to take place in our recent history which led the citizens to agree, and even ask for important staples of the constitution to be void.

The constitution was never intended to restrain the citizens. It is clearly, and was always intended to restrain the governments powers against the citizens, and abroad. There will always be tough issues in which some citizens may feel limited in power assured by the constitution, but visualize the gain over the loss. We have to stop letting them treat the constitution as a play thing. They are already abandoning its principles in secret. The Constitution was made to prevent tyranny.

I agree McCain is not much better than Huckaphony, but I honestly think the Repubs have a chance if this Democratic primary keeps going the way it is. Barack will win in the end, and hopefully people will see him for the deceiving socialist he is (given his connections to Rev. Wright and that terrorist).

There is still hope. McCain needs a TRUE conservative VP for starters...
