24 Hours Too Late

((Part 5 of Ruby/Dean))
Ruby's time is very short. Actually she only has 24 hours left to live before she is sent back to hell. Dean and Sam try to figure out ways to just think of some way to save her. Both didn't want to lose her and if Ruby was gone Sam was going to feel like he failed her and Dean would feel like a part of his life was ripped right from him. Either way the boys were going to be crushed. Dean kept thinking that maybe he should go to the crossroads to make a deal to offer up his soul again to save Ruby, but Sam didn't want that to happen and Dean began to have flashbacks of Ruby and him together.

Sam goes off to the hospital to ask the doctor if there was any other way to save her, but the doctor doesn't give the greatest news ever and Sam is broken. He goes back to tell Dean the news and Dean couldn't take it anymore. He told Sam that he was going to find the crossroads demon and offer his soul up to bring her back. He wasn't going to let Ruby go. He just couldn't deal with the pain. Sam tells Dean that he can't dea with the pain and leaves and Dean lets him go. Dean gets another flashback of when he and Ruby had slept with each other and Dean had never mentioned it to Sam and Dean had had enough and goes off to the crossroads waiting for it to show up.

Dean waits and waits and the hours go by like they were nothing and he just kept thinking of Ruby. No one else but Ruby. The corssroad demon shows up and Dean makes the offer to her and she denies it, but she begins to toy with him and shows him when Ruby told Dean that she rememebered what it was like to be human and Dean was starting to get pissed. He traps her in a Devil's Trap and begins to send her back to hell. She tells him she can give him something else and Dean pauses...

Two hours left on the clock and the demon was in hell. Dean calls Sam and asks him where he is to pick him up and rush to the hospital to get to Ruby before she died. One hour left on the clock and it felt like it was being taken away so fast. Sam told Dean that he was sorry for everything that has happened between him, Ruby, and Dean, and Dean just tells Sam to forget about it and just think about Ruby staying alive and not losing her, but they were too late. At 10:41 am, just like their dad, Ruby had died and now she was back in the one place where she never liked in the first and the boys have no idea about it yet until they reach the hospital and hear the painful, ear piercing flatline...
