On the video Councilwoman Letitia James, and Councilwoman Margaret Chin, speak. The press conference was held in front of the HSBC building located across the street from the ows encampment.

Letitia James (35th Council District, Central Brooklyn):
"Mayor Bloomberg should not usurp, and dement democracy for the second time. at this particular instance, the park is clean. A number of individuals have exercised, have walked around, and have cleaned the park I've just went through the park. they tell me, according to the landlord, that one cannot enter into the park. Well, I've just entered into the park, and walked all around the park. there were at least 10 individuals cleaning the park. Two, I don't see exigent circumstances, not a threat to safety, and again the issue of cleanliness I believe is a ruse, a disguise, and nothing more than an excuse to end Occupation Wall Street. And so I urge the Mayor of the City of New York to negotiate in good faith with the leader of Occupy Wall Street because again this is the voice of democracy and they are exercising their first amendment right. Mr. Mayor I know you are not used to respecting the Constitution, but I urge you, I urge you to respect the Constitution otherwise the lawyers are ready."

Margaret Chin (1st Council District, Lower Manhattan including Wall Street):
"I'm here to support the protesters. We are sending a strong message across this country and across the world that we got to make sure that the wealthy pay their fair share. now, the stronger message that people are here, they don't have jobs. we need to pass the President's job bill. A lot of my residents in this district, my constituents have written to me and told me that they support the protesters, but they also want the protesters, the people here to support them because they are working families, middle class families that live around here, that have to endure extra noise; they want to be supportive. but they want them to know that their concerns are being met. I'm glad the protesters are meeting with us to work together to (build a) policy so we can all coexist and continue the strong peaceful message across the country that we all have to pay our fair share. That this United States, the richest country in the world, we cannot afford to have people with no jobs, and no home. So I call on the Mayor to do everything you can to make sure that the people's demonstration continue, and we do not want any kind of violence in our district, in our city."
