Freedom Chant - Native American spiritual drumming and chant

December 6, 2009 at WomanVoice, an annual celebration in Toronto in honour of the 14 women murdered in Montreal 20 years ago. This Freedom Chant is an improvised song with beautiful audience participation. Medicine Song Woman Brenda MacIntyre came up with the idea about an hour before the show, so this was not a song already written. It was spontaneously co-created by Brenda, her sacred drum and the audience at Ellington's Music & Cafe.

Does anyone know anything about this type of drum??? I know I'm into hand drumming & never saw or heard this kind before. If I know what it's called, I can research it some more. What an amazing sound from that strange looking drum, I need to find out more about that kind of drum, bet it's easier to make than a djembe, lol. Love the boominess of it too. Love her chanting once she gets audience going on freedom, she does her own spontaneous chant, awesome.
