Last year over 250 runners took part in the race to raise valuable funds for charity.
Congratulations to Mark Smith (Aberystwyth AC) 35.23 winner of the men's race, Seonid Murray (Liverpool Harriers) 38.41 winner of the women's race and all 229 runners who took part in the 2010 Aberystwyth 10K (postponed to January 2011 because of bad weather). Many thanks to everyone who organised and helped out on the day, in particular the numerous non club member marshals who braved a bracing fresh January aftemoon.
Race history:
At Carl Williams' instigation the race was first held in 1999. Since then it has grown into one of the most popular flat road races in mid-Wales. The first race was jointly organised between Carl, Aberystwyth Athletic Club and Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise funds for the charity. It was an immediate success so the event continues and in 2001 Macmillan Cancer Support took over Marie Curie Cancer Care's role. Following Macmillan's decision in 2010 to end its association with the race its official title is now the Cambrian News Aberystwyth 10K. The hope is that runners will continue to raise sponsorship money for charitable causes.
