  • Proxmox is fantastic.  I just setup a server in about 3 minutes! The really nice aspect of using OpenVZ is that it extremely maximises your hardware. As a test, setup a KVM of a server and then setup the exact same server using an OpenVZ container and notice the RAM utilization. You could literally run dozens, upon dozens of VMs using OpenVZ!

    Proxmox makes using this type of virtualization so easy a child could do it. Doesn't work with windoze servers though.

  • @VictorButny But how I've understood, only Xen and KVM(HVM) can have swap. My OpenVZ doesn't have swap..

    OpenVZ create only an image. Inside this image are emulated partitions and all the needed hardware for a complete OS. Actually, this emulated OS has access to the resources of host machine using your multi-core CPU through the OpenVZ app. If you need more details, search google for "virtualization" and you can find lots of detailed explanations. Brilliant technology... :)
