  • This isn't necessary- they plain don't work. METRO should be embarrassed by how they have let the stations fall apart. I know I am.

  • The oldest up through the early 1990's were through Westinghouse (now Schindler), O&K, Montgomery and Otis. Newer escalators (Columbia Heights, Georgia Ave, Congress Heights, Southern Ave, Naylor Rd, Branch Ave) are from Fujitec. Suitland- not sure who manufactures those but those are not from Fujitec.

Phase 1 of the Dulles extension will have escalators from Kone. I found that on a Google search.

  • what company manufactures metro's escalators?

  • If a part the mechancc are after doesn't show up, then the escalator remains out of service. When an escalator is down, it's up to the builder to see to it that the parts are well stocked to help prevent delay. Most escalators are NOT built for outside operation. Outdoor escalators and elevators need special parts to handle the ever-changing weather conditions.

  • I rode the biggest escalator once heading to the Smithsonian! Don't look down!

  • this is ridiculous. why didn't they design metro so that you don't need escalators two-thirds the length of a football field? idiots.

  • very interesting...

  • try minnesota ave station

  • Why is METRO taking so long to fix the broken down escalator at Capitol South? They keep delaying it
