An early-stage alpha version of the 2D platform game Moon Child for Commodore's AGA (Advanced Graphic Architecture) Amiga computers (A1200, A4000, A4000T).

The video was recorded using an Amiga emulator. The original Amiga game featured glitch-free, silky smooth scrolling.

The game was created in 1993/1994 by Reinier van Vliet (game design and coding), Metin Seven (game design and graphics) and Ramon Braumuller (audio), as a sequel to the 1992 hit Amiga game Hoi (the green critter), but was never finished for the Amiga because of sombre prospects for Commodore at the time.

In 1997 a completely rebuilt higher resolution version of Moon Child was released for Windows 95 (check the other Moon Child videos for an impression), and in 2004 the game was rereleased for the Pocket PC.

The full Moon Child game for Windows can be found at the bottom of this article about our development team:

  • do some1 know where i can dowload the full game on pc, i have been looking everywhere

  • @paintballersp1 Thanks for your interest. I've added a link to the video description. The game can be downloaded from the bottom of that page. Have fun.

  • @paintballersp1 That's great to read, thanks!

  • Thanks man! Yes, sometimes I feel that regret myself. If only Commodore's management hadn't messed up in those days, the Amiga could have been where Apple is now.

  • thanks alot!!! i played it when i was 6-7 years and it was so fun!!

  • PC is a marvelous machine, or should I say series of machines. Even more so since the advent of the internet. There are many advantages to having fixed specifications. Especially in regards to emulation. Tailoring something to a uniform platform usually pushes the best from them. PC sadly never falls in to that category often relying on hardware updates to cover shortfalls in the programming. No matter how good they are they never get anywhere near to hitting their peak.

  • PC is unrivaled. Flexibility of free platform can not be beaten by any close-spec machine.
